Integrity Home Care and Hospice Announces McGee Is New Kansas City Executive Director of Strategic Development

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Integrity Home Care and Hospice today affirms its appointment of Donald “Donny” McGee to the position of executive director of strategic development.

As head of the Kansas City business development team, McGee is entrusted with the origination of high-value partnerships to ensure seamless services across the continuum of care for individuals throughout the metro area.

“We want to keep people out of hospitals and serve them wherever they are at home,” he says.

Integrity Home Care and Hospice is a faith-based, privately held leader in quality, post-acute health care. Committed to quality patient and family experiences wherever people call home, the healthcare provider offers a comprehensive range of compassionate, client-centered home care, hospice, and home health rehabilitation services.

As executive director, McGee works directly with health systems, providers and post-acute providers, in specialties such as skilled nursing, assisted living, and rehabilitation. As needed, he and his team will directly assist in the integration of Integrity’s leading home care and hospice services with the area’s existing health care providers.

Integrity’s partners include forward-thinking regional providers which meet the needs of patients who wish to remain in their home during times of serious, life altering illness or at end of life.

Partnering with Integrity allows health care providers the opportunity to address challenges in managing chronic and serious illness, customizing solutions for issues faced by the community.

His is a role that McGee understands is critical to quality of care. He firmly believes that every person should be afforded the respect and dignity they deserve during serious illness or at end of life.

“To do that, we need talk about palliative care, then break the stigma about hospice and the advantages of early admission,” he says.

Educating families, patients, and physicians about when it’s time to talk about hospice can be uncomfortable, he explains. Sometimes, even the best physicians struggle when it’s time for that conversation.

“They feel that they’ve let their patient down. In turn, the patient is scared for the future. They may be unsure about what life looks like in the days ahead, and what’s going to happen.”

A good care plan, check-ins with family, an emphasis on comfort, and meeting the unique needs of each person – including veterans of the United States Armed Forces – help bridge the gap, he says.

“At the end of the day, making a positive impact in community health care through servant leadership is what working with Integrity is all about,” McGee says.
